June is National Safety Month which is sponsored by the National Safety Council.
The Bedford FD members are wearing green, the color of National Safety Month.

Emergency prepardness, wellness, falls, and driver safety are all parts of the National Safety Councils National Safety Month.

Some highlights from the links below are:
- Have a first aid kit in your home and make sure the items are not expired.
- Keep batteries, flashlights and bottled water on hand.
- Keep a list of medical conditions and medications up to date and ready in the event of an emergency.
- Have an emergency phone list in a place where everyone in the home knows where it is.
- Have an emergency escape plan in the event of an emergency in your home.
- Make sure to get adequate sleep each night.
- Keep medications out of reach from children.
- With young children, make sure the doors are locked and pools are secured so they can't venture out and fall in.
- Clean up any liquids so there are no slips or falls.
- Keep walkways inside and outside of your home.
- Keep electrical cords out of walkways.
- Don't drive distracted or drowsy.
