BFD Hits Record 700 Calls

By First Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Klein
November 27, 2018

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Bedford Fire Department went on its 700th call for 2018 and is currently at 709. This is more calls than the department responded to in all of 2017 and we still have a month to go. In fact, this is the most calls we’ve ever logged.

So far this year, 283 (41%) of our calls have been EMS related, with 58 of those being motor vehicle accidents. On the fire side we have responded to 417 calls ranging from actual fires to service calls to hazardous conditions and false alarms.

We’re probably looking at responding to over 750 calls by year end, which will mean we’d have averaged over two calls per day.

Our volunteers are ready and able to go when the next call comes in and are here to support those in our fire district. If you want to join us, we would like to meet you. Please visit bedfordfire.com and fill out an application.
