Training Night on Car Fires and Extrication

Recently, members of the Bedford Fire Department went out to our “training grounds” at the Highway Department property on Crusher Road, and drilled on car extrication and motor vehicle fires.
Members were broken up into different stations at two vehicles and shown proper extrication and stabilization techniques. New tools, like our TNT hydraulic equipment and our Paratech rescue struts, were utilized off of Rescue 44 and put to work.

To complete the night, a car fire with multiple evolutions was established, and the engine company role at an MVF was reviewed.

Special thanks to ex-captain Jerome Newman for setting up the vehicles and drill. Photos courtesy of FF/EMT Gail Carmody.
