Car vs. Semi on Interstate 684

Just before 10 p.m. on October 30th, Bedford Fire and EMS were dispatched to the area of Mile Marker 12.2 southbound on Interstate 684 for a reported tractor trailer versus sedan. First arriving Car 2043 updated incoming units that both drivers were out of their vehicles but the roadway would have to be shut down one lane due to a large debris field.

Rescue 44 arrived on location to help clean up a large swath of fluids left by the damaged semi on the roadway, while State Police and Engine 109 helped to block the scene. Both patients w


ere evaluated by Bedford EMS and a 45-Medic, and declined transport to the hospital.

Following a lengthy application of speedy dry absorbent material, both vehicles were removed from the scene, and units returned to service.
