On Sunday, January 07, 2007, Firefighter Peter Aquilino led the monthly Junior Corp. drill, demonstrating the various uses of inflatable air bags used during rescue and recovery operations.

Rescue 44 carries a full set of airbags manufactured by the Lukas Tool Company; each varying in weight limits and lift heights. If a situation occurs where airbags are needed the entire system can be set up in minutes and can help decrease the time of rescur operations.

Firefighter Aquilino went over the set up and control of the airbags, as well as the proper communication techniques between members when operating on a rescue call. Once everyone was familiarized with the equipment, the entire system was taken apart to let the YP show their stuff. Air tanks and pressurized air lines were set up, the vehicle was stabilized and "cribbed" and the airbags were inflated to successfully lift the car off the ground.
