Final Summer Junior Drill

By First Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Klein
July 31, 2018

On July 31, our Junior Member Program had its final summer drill and family BBQ. Juniors are members ages 15 - 17 who join our department and learn what it's like to be a firefighter or EMT. At 15, Juniors learn about safety and support roles. At 16, they can drill with the department and participate in support roles. At 17, Juniors can start training as firefighters or EMTs for certification and full membership in the department once they reach 18.

This year two Juniors will be turning 18 and becoming full members of the BFD, having already completed Firefighter 1 training at Westchester County Regional Emergency Management headquarters in Valhalla. Thank you John Best and Craig Moccia, for your dedication to the program, department and community, and congratulations on graduating firefighter training.

The Department would like to thank Lt. Jim Best and his advisors for the tremendous amount of work that goes into this program. If you are interested in hearing more about our Junior program, please contact us.
