At 4:24 p.m. on Monday February 15th, Bedford Fire and EMS were toned out for a truck rollover at the intersection of South Bedford Road (Route 172) and the I-684 ramps near the park and ride. Car 2041 arrived on scene and established command, confirming a loaded tree truck towing a chipper had rolled over on South Bedford Road proper. Both occupants were out of the vehicle, and declined transport to the hospital. The Rescue 44 crew handled minor fluid leaks from the vehicle, cleared the roadway of debris, and disconnected the battery. Additional personnel from Engine 110 and Utility 140 created a large offset traffic pattern for several hours while the truck was uprighted. Because of the location of the rollover, traffic had to be controlled by our members from three directions at this major intersection. Scene lighting was provided with our light towers on Rescue 44 and Engine 110. Due to falling temperatures, Bedford DPW also assisted with salting the roadway. The vehicle was recovered by Flatbed Towing and Pratow, and Bedford units cleared at 7:15 p.m. |
