On Monday March 29th, Town of Bedford employees notified 60 Control of a brush fire in the area of the Bedford Village Highway Garage, located at the end of Crusher Road.

Bedford Fire quickly responded with Engine 109 and Engine 110, and located an area of roughly 50' x 100' that was smoldering and burning. Due to the location of the fire, it was apparent that the cause was a downed primary power line, and so access and extinguishment were put on hold. NYSEG was notified on a rush to cut power to the area.

Once secure, members doused the flames and all charred areas to ensure no rekindles. Although the fire was wind driven, we were saved by the saturated areas from the rain the night before.

Upon clearing the scene, Bedford FD also took in a commercial fire alarm on Old Post Road, which was set off in error.
