Busy Night for Bedford Fire Department

By First Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Klein
September 2, 2021

On September 1st around 11:00 Westchester Fire Dispatch (60 Control) became overloaded with storm emergency calls throughout the County and requested Fire departments staff their firehouses for self dispatch. Members of the Bedford Fire Department responded and staffed our station and while being staffed responded to around 12 calls for service. These calls for service were water conditions, wires down, trees blocking roadways and alarm calls. Members handled all emergencies and then received a request for our Marine unit that is stored on Rescue 44 to respond to Mamaroneck. Chief Carmody (2041) and Rescue 44 responded to the fire training center and were quickly deployed to Mamaroneck where they deployed the boat and made numerous rescues.
