On Thursday, September 23rd at 2:33 p.m., Bedford Fire was dispatched to the area of 120 Long Ridge Road for reported wires burning.

Car 2041 was responding and while attempting to locate the call, came upon a one car accident, involving an SUV into a tree with wires down across multiple poles directly across from 183 Long Ridge Road. This call was determined to be one in the same as the original dispatch.

Fire and EMS crews were re-dispatched to the correct location. The sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Westchester Medical Center by our crew with Ambulance 52-B2. NYSEG crews arrived quickly, isolated power to the area, repaired and reset the downed wires, and removed the tree from the roadway.

Engine 109 and Engine 110 were both utilized on scene to cool down the roadway and adjacent brush, which were burning due to arcing wires. A full 1500 gallons of water were needed to make the road safe to drive on. Utility 140 and Bedford PD assisted with traffic detours during the incident.
