Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 4th, Bedford Fire and EMS crews were dispatched in front of 301 Greenwich Road for a motor vehicle accident with extrication.

Banksville Fire and Armonk EMS were already dispatched and enroute to this incident as it was believed to be inside Banksville's district lines. Responding units located the accident in the Bedford Fire District, and remained on scene to assist.

A box truck had crashed into the back of another truck, pinning the driver in the cab. The first vehicle was moved out of the way, and the door was opened to access the patient. Because cab-over style trucks have a very little crumple zone, there was significant intrusion into the driver's compartment; the hydraulic ram was used to move the dash and components off of the patient and allow for packaging and extrication. The work was completed with tools from Banksville Engine 158 and Bedford Rescue 44.

Armonk EMS, Bedford EMS and Westchester EMS members packaged the patient; they were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by Armonk EMS.

Units remained on scene for traffic control while the vehicle was removed.
