At 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th, Bedford Fire was dispatched to 5 Court Road for a reported oven fire. As part of the automatic mutual aid for a structural type fire assignment, Bedford Hills Fire responded with Tower Ladder 57 and Tanker 5.
Car 2041 was on scene shortly thereafter, and found a large volume of smoke throughout a 2 ½ story residence; all occupants had evacuated.
Engine 109 took the driveway and stretched a line into the kitchen, where a fire in an oven was extinguished. The appliance had the gas line isolated and was removed from the house to prevent any further issues. There was no extension throughout the rest of the kitchen.
Remaining crews on scene set up fans on all floors and metered the building; ventilation was performed to remove smoke and carbon monoxide. Thanks to a quick knock down by responding units, the damage was minimal.
