We're gearing up for our big 100th anniversary parade and celebration! The event will be held on Saturday, September 9th, with a parade step off of 4 p.m. PARADE ROUTE The parade will start at Court Road and Route 22 (Old Post Road), go south through Bedford Village, and make a left turn onto Greenwich Road, finishing at Bedford Village Park. The reviewing stand will be located in front of Historical Hall, at 608 Old Post Road across from the Village Green. PARADE INFO (PUBLIC) This parade will be much different from our usual route, and will have many more companies in attendance. We are expecting 36 departments from Westchester, Putnam, Duchess and Fairfield counties. We encourage spectators to line up along the sides of Route 22 starting at Court Road, and along the Village Green/sidewalk in front of the historic cemetery, and along 172 to the Greenwich Road traffic light. We need to keep the sidewalk on Greenwich Road clear for those walking between the parade and the Bedford Village Park. You may still view the parade on the north side of Greenwich Road (Pleasant Street side). We expect the parade to last from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Please note the new firehouse will not be open to the public during this event. CELEBRATION AT THE PARK The celebration at the Bedford Village Park will commence around 5:15 - 5:30 p.m., at the completion of the parade. There will be food, refreshments and drinks available for free at the park, as well as inflatable bounce houses, face painting, an ice cream truck, and live music. All apparatus in the parade will be parked in the Park, so the public will be able to check out the equipment up close. T-shirts, mugs and posters will be available for sale from the BFD. Trophies will be presented to attending companies on the stage at the Park around 7:30 p.m. FIREWORKS Fireworks will be set off on the far (south) ballfields at the Park around 8:30 p.m. Spectators should bring chairs/blankets and set up following trophies around 7:30 p.m. The best place for viewing is on the field closest to the playground equipment, as well as the main field where our celebration will be held (closest to Greenwich Road). Shuttle buses will continue to run between designated stops/parking areas before and after fireworks. See info below. ROAD CLOSURES Roads along the parade route will be closed from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. (estimated) by Bedford Police. Motorists will need to use Indian Hill, Guard Hill Road, Clark Road, Middle Patent/East Middle Patent Road and Cedar Hill Road in North Castle to detour during this time. The following roads will be closed to traffic during the parade: Old Post Road (Greenwich Road to Guard Hill Road), Greenwich Road (Old Post Road to Baylis Lane), Spruce Pond Lane, Pleasant Street, Southbrook Road, Court Road, Seminary Road, Tarleton Road. PARKING AND SHUTTLE BUSES (Look for the RED and WHITE signs) Parking Options: There will be three shuttle buses (school buses) running a loop between the above stops between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Service will be limited during the parade (4 to 5:15 p.m.), but will still cycle between Fox Lane, Hunting Ridge Mall and our firehouse during that time. THERE IS NO PUBLIC PARKING AT BEDFORD VILLAGE PARK or on Spruce Pond Lane - this area will be reserved for fire apparatus at the conclusion of the parade. Additional "no parking" zones will be posted by Bedford PD near the parade route in advance. We encourage attendees to walk from the Village to the Park following the completion of the parade. This is a short walk which takes 5-10 minutes. LINE UP INFO (FIRE/EMS DEPARTMENTS)
