| After a lengthy construction period at the P&L Custom plant in Manasquan, New Jersey, the new Ambulance 52-B1 has finally arrived at its new home. The ambulance is a 2007 Ford E-450 Chassis with a Type-III body built to spec by P&L Custom.
After receiving the ambulance from Specialty Vehicle Sales, our local P&L Custom dealer a few weeks were spent fully stocking and completing the necessary driver training.
Additionally, Welsh Signs in Bedford Hills spent numerous hours hand painting and stenciling Bedford graphics and lettering on the ambulance.
With safety a priority, the new "52" was designed with some "cool" new high-tech safety features. The rear-view mirror is split with a back-up camera and microphone, so you can see and hear what's behind you when backing. Also, visibility devices such as powerful emergency LED lights, rear mounted telescoping scene lights and 3M Scotchlite reflective tape were installed on the ambulance.
The old 52-B1, our 1996 Ford/Horton workhorse for nearly 11 years was bought by Mutual Aid America, and will be shipped down to Latin America in the coming weeks to serve a department there.
On September 6th, the new 52-B1 was placed into service and responded to two EMS calls on Bishop Road and on the Fox Lane High School campus, and was happily driven to both by Lieutenant Paul Aquilino, Car 2045. |
