In the early morning hours of October 8th, 2007, members of the Bedford Fire Department were requested to respond to the report of a PIAA with a rollover near the edge of our fire district at Old Corner Road and Route 172.

Both Bedford and Pound Ridge Police units were the first to arrive on scene (due to uncertainty of the location of the call) with a sedan that had rolled into the roadway after hitting a utility pole. The driver, who was alert and conscious, self-extricated himself from the vehicle and was later transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Ambulance 52-B1 with minor injuries.

Both police agencies assisted with re-directing the morning rush hour traffic around the scene of the accident while crews on Rescue 44 and Engine 110 cleared the roadway of fluids and debris. A flatbed from the Bedford Shell Station removed the vehicle from the scene.

The road remained closed through the morning as NYSEG crews worked to replace the damaged utility pole.
