At 6:52 p.m. on January 26 2008, members of the Bedford Fire Department were requested to respond to a motor vehicle fire on the shoulder of Interstate 684 at mile marker 12.7, in the southbound direction. Arriving Westchester County and New York State Police units confirmed the location of the call and updated incoming apparatus of a fully involved car fire.

On the arrival of Car 2043 and Engine 109, two of the three lanes were closed off to traffic, as a hand line and foam were used to extinguish the blaze. Members quickly overhauled the car, and applied Speedy Dry to the roadway to absorb any fluids spilled by the vehicle.

Units remained on scene until the vehicle was removed from the roadway, and returned to service in just over an hour.
