| On Thursday, January 31, 2008, members of the Bedford Police and Bedford Fire Departments were dispatched to the Fox Lane School Campus after the discovery of a bomb threat in the Fox Lane Middle School building by faculty. Quick and decisive action taken by both the school and emergency officials resulted in the evacuation of all buildings on campus (via fire alarm). Students were then escorted to buses to keep warm and later dismissed and sent home.
To assist with the evacuation of the buildings and traffic control on campus, engines were requested to the scene from Bedford Hills and Mount Kisco. Both Westchester County and New York State Police units assisted at the scene, bringing K-9 and aviation units to search the area. Additional K-9 support was received from the Metro North Police Department, as all vehicles leaving the campus were searched thoroughly. An ambulance from KBHVAC and medic from Westchester EMS were also available at the scene.
After an extensive search of the building and properties no bomb was and all units returned to quarters. Members of the Katonah Fire Department were on standby at the Bedford Fire Department firehouse for the duration of the call.
