Recruit Program

PURPOSE: 

The Recruit Program allows young people to cultivate their interest in emergency response by training alongside our adult firefighters and EMTs. Our Recruits participate in the activities of the Bedford Fire Department and are actively involved in our service to the community. 

MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:

Local residents are eligible to apply for Recruit membership at age 15.

Parent or Guardian consent is required, as is a Physical Examination.

All Recruits train at the Bedford Fire Department, both in dedicated drills and classes and with the adult first responders.

Recruit Members may be approved for participation in emergency response by the Chiefs at age 16 or 17, provided they have mastered the required training and demonstrated the required level of maturity.
