| After handling back-to-back automatic residential alarms at 21 Ferris Lane and 432 Pea Pond Road at 11:00 am, Bedford Fire Department units were toned out for the third automatic alarm of the day at 564 Guard Hill Road.
On arrival, Bedford Police advised of the occasional faint smell of smoke outside of the structure. 60-Control also advised of additional activations in both the basement and attic smoke detectors. On visual inspection of the home, smoke was seen inside the front entry way, and Engine 109 immediately requested a re-dispatch for inside smoke. An engine from Bedford Hills was also requested to the scene.
Upon the quick arrival of the homeowner, entry was gained to the structure, and a pot with contents was found burning on the stove. Fans were set up inside the structure to ventilate, and the handline was repacked on 109.
This incident should serve as a reminder to all home and business owners to have and check their smoke detectors…you never know when it could save your possessions or even your life! |
