On Thursday, September 4, 2008, at approximately 14:32 hours, the Bedford Fire Department was dispatched to 69 Stone Hill Road (Coker Farm) for a possible motor vehicle fire. A second dispatch was made requesting an ambulance to the scene and a third dispatch for a structure fire.
Upon arrival a working fire was confirmed involving a storage area for hay attached to a horse riding rink. The heat from the sun and blaze made a strenuous attack for the fire fighters. After some battle, removal of hay bales and dowsing of hot spots the fire was knocked down by the volunteers of the Bedford Fire Department and surrounding mutual aid units.
The fire proved to be accidental by a thorough investigation by the Zone 5 Cause and Origin Team.
Following clean up and re-packing of hose lines all mutual aide units were released with thanks and Bedford cleared the scene and was back in service.
