| All members of the Bedford Fire Department are required to have an up-to-date certification for CPR and the use of an AED, and are yearly re-certified by the American Red Cross.
Under the supervision of BFD member Karina Warshaw and Chief Joanne Aquilino, different "drills" and practices were performed on mock infant, child, and adult victims. These started with the basic requirements, such as assessing the patient, finding a pulse, and asking ourselves, "Is the scene safe?" From there, the skill became more advanced in nature, moving up to performing CPR with a bag valve mask, and two-rescuer CPR with the use of an AED. The instructors ran multiple evolutions, and all had a chance to practice on mock victims of all age groups.
Within a few short hours, all of the members that attended were successfully recertified, and brought up to date in the latest in CPR and the use of an AED. Special thanks to our instructors! |
