Just before 4:30 p.m. on May 26th, the Armonk Fire Department was dispatched to a residence at 14 North Lake Road that had been struck by lightning during a storm that afternoon. Armonk chiefs arrived on location and requested a "10-75" or working fire assignment, confirming a lightning strike and fire in the attached garage of the home.
The initial response brought members of the Banksville, Mt. Kisco, and North White Plains Fire Departments to the scene, and put Bedford units on standby at the Armonk Fire Department. Within minutes Engine 110 was on the road, and was requested to the scene by Battalion 16 for additional manpower. Once on location, our members were put to work to assist in ventilating the structure, as well as searching for any additional fire in the walls related to the electrical wiring.
Engine 110 remained on location for two hours, and was eventually returned by Armonk command. Thanks to a quick knockdown, the house was saved.
