On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 17:51 hours, members of the Bedford Fire Department were dispatched on a possible chimney fire at 441 Old Post Road. Moments later Car 2041 arrived on scene to report visible fire from the chimney at 429 Old Post Road, two houses south of the original call.
Due to the close proximity of the call to our firehouse, all of Bedford's apparatus was able to respond to the scene in under a minute. Mutual aid tankers from Pound Ridge and Banksville were instructed to stage on Jefferson Lane, while Mt. Kisco's Tower Ladder 14 pulled up next to the house. Ground ladders were set up against the structure to check the chimney for any visible fire. When no fire was found, firefighters checked the walls adjacent to the stack for an extension and none was found.
After a little less than an hour on scene, the "all clear" was given at 18:48 hours.
All Bedford units were cleared and mutual aid apparatus was returned with a big thank-you!
