By YP Lieutenant Graham Glauber
June 26, 2007

On Tuesday, June 26, 2007, members of the Bedford Fire Department responded to an automatic residential alarm at 212 Baldwin Road, just before noon time. By 6 p.m., two more automatic commercial alarms were received, both accidentally tripped at the Bedford Village Elementary School.

At 6:28 p.m., a car fire was reported near mile marker 11.8 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 684. Car 2041, 2043, Engine 109 and Engine 110 responded, arriving to a fully involved car fire. While the New York State Police closed the road to traffic, hand lines were stretched, and a foam inductor system was utilized from Engine 109 to smother the flames.

While an overhaul of the scene continued, Bedford Hills FD provided mutual aid to yet another residential fire alarm at 148 The Narrows Road.

To finish the day, Katonah FD received a working structure fire at 264 Cherry Street just after midnight, calling Bedford Hills FD and Mt. Kisco FD to the scene. At the request of Car 2212 for more manpower to the scene, Goldens Bridge FD, Engine 138 responded, and Bedford FD Engine 109 was to standby in Katonah headquarters to cover any calls. Standby lasted for nearly three and a half hours while crews overhauled at the scene, releasing Engine 109 at 03:45 hours.
