At 3:11 p.m. on Christmas Eve, 60 Control notified members of the Bedford Fire Department of a reported structure fire in the area of 30 West Circle. An additional update reported multiple calls from houses on West Circle with heavy smoke from the garage of 25 West Circle.
Arriving Car 2043 and Engine 109 confirmed a working fire in a one story connected garage of the structure, and re-toned Bedford units to respond to the scene. The initial response consisted of Mt. Kisco Tower Ladder 14 and two tankers from Banksville and Pound Ridge. Upon confirmation, Car 2043 requested Bedford Hills' tanker to the assignment while Battalion 16 added F.A.S.T from the Mt. Kisco Independents.
Following a quick knock down with a line on Engine 109, arriving mutual aid manpower assisted in the overhaul of the structure. NYSEG and the Bedford Water Department arrived on scene to cut off utilities to the structure while Cause and Origin Team Zone 4, mutual aid to Zone 5, conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Remaining hot spots were doused as Banksville Tanker 7 supplied Engine 109, and Rescue 44 was recalled to the scene on special detail. Katonah Car 2211, 2212, and Engine 117 were available at our firehouse to cover any fire calls while KBHVAC was available at the scene to cover EMS.
All mutual aid units were returned with "thanks" and Bedford units made it back to quarters around 6:00 p.m. The fire was determined to be accidental.
