At 7:20 a.m. on February 11th, at the peak of the rush hour commute, multiple passing motorists reported a fully involved car fire at mile marker 12.8 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 684, just before Exit 4. Cars 2041, 2042, and 2043 all made their way to the scene in a matter of minutes confirming the call, and closing two of the three lanes of traffic alongside New York State Police units.
On the arrival of Engine 110 to the scene, a hand line was stretched with a foam inductor to extinguish the involved SUV. Following a quick knock down, the car was overhauled and removed from the scene by a flatbed. Ironically, the vehicle was a Chevrolet "Blazer".
